Color Me Happy
Because the new TV season has finally started! I’m not much of a reality show junkie (except for the stuff Alexa and you guys suck me into - Rock of Love!) but I LOVE Dancing with the Stars. I think it’s the costumes. I love sequins and shiny things not to mention the fancy footwork. I think it’s incredible how they take people with little dance experience and by the end turn them into pretty great ballroom dancers. I keep saying one day I’m going to sign up for some of ballroom lessons. When Al and I used to watch this together he actually said he would like to learn how to Tango so who knows?!
The season has just started and I’m already behind. I’ve got CSI:Miami and Boston Legal on my DVR because I couldn’t stay up late enough to watch either last night. Tonite I’m going to my friend Patricia’s it’s “90210″ night. Throwback to the old days of getting together to watch that show with friends. I confess, I did not watch the original much, I was all into Melrose Place and still have the mug and t-shirt to prove it.
I was thinking about it, all my life there’s been a TV show that I’ve bonded a friendship over. For my friend Ann and I it was Dynasty, then for Rosie, Barbara and I it was Melrose Place and now Patricia and I with 90210. Somehow watching the fictional ups and downs in the TV world make it easier to deal with personal ones. They spark meaningful conversations among friends and sometimes the strength of those friendships become the support you need to get through the rough patches. I look forward to tonite, Patricia’s making pasta, I’m bringing over my latest BevMo bargain and we’ll emote along with the characters at West Beverly and fit in some good ‘ol fashioned girl talk during the commercial breaks.
Meanwhile back at my DVR I’ll be taping the second premiere night of DWTS and the new show The Mentalist because I think Simon Baker if SIZZLING! (Remember him in Devil Wears Prada? Even better see him in Something New). When I will have time to watch this stuff I don’t know, it’s a pretty busy week but just knowing it’s there gives me a warm feeling. Yea Me! If your faves haven’t made it back I’m sure they will soon and when they do: Here’s to good food, good wine and good Girl Talk…Cheers!
