Holi-daze
If I may quote a popular commercial “We need more Fridays!” . The kickoff to the weekend always rocks around here. I like to say it’s the most fun you can have without controlled substances. Okay seriously, it was great getting a chance to sit down and talk with Charlie Murphy. I’ve seen him on Chappelle’s show and in various movies and I caught his standup a couple of years ago but he is much mellower out of the the spotlight. I would hope he doesn’t take offense but I find him to have a sweet, soulful quality. I have been fascinated by tattoos ever since I was a little girl and that has not changed. I took a chance and asked Charlie about his and he confessed that he has 11 and gave me a personal tour. (They are all above the equator!) It was cool and kinda sexy. It’s personal moments like this with people that really put this job over the top for me!
I like the rest of you live for weekends and when it’s a holiday weekend…Bonus! (or lagniappe for those of you with roots in the Crescent City). The only thing is that you try to do so much that you end up in a daze by Monday night: bruised up, bone tired, hungover, etc sitting on the couch or in a chair wishing you didn’t have to go to work on Tuesday so you can recover from the weekend. I’m usually happy to get back to work for the rest and regimentation. Free time gets me into trouble. When your’re a kid your parents regulate your activity and keep you away from “too much”. As adults we don’t know the meaning of “too much”. We’re always having just one more…one more drink, one more rib, one more slice of pie, one more mile, one more game. That’s why I call it “holi-daze”. I’m not knocking it though because taking it easy is called a work day. So have fun, be safe and if you come back to work in the holi-daze, you better have a GREAT story about how you got that way! Peace.
