The Social Circle
I have been steadily at work trying to expand my circle and so far so good. Outside of work I had one friend (Patricia) thanks to Al’s sister. The two of us decided we need to get out more and expand our social network. Our goal: To have lots of friends by the end of the summer. She has a good friend (Shannon) that I met over the weekend. Patricia and I decided to form a wine club for women so we invited our women friends from work and wherever then pulled in a couple of strangers and now we have about a dozen cool girls to hang out with. We’re so happy! The reason I bring this up is to say friends are one of the many things that make life worth living so if you haven’t made time for yours lately (or made time to make any) do yourself a favor and connect or reconnect with someone that you share similar interests with. I know from a personal standpoint the Bay Area has been a bit lonely for me because I just went to work and went home. My job is social and I love meeting people but many times when I had free time I was at loose ends. Basically my work fooled me into thinking I had a social life. There’s nothing wrong with having friends at work but you need some outside too. Don’t get me wrong, one of my mantras is “I’m an adult, I can amuse myself” but there is no substitute for human connection on an intimate level. Having friends to laugh and talk with is priceless, especially when the world gets you down. We are all busy people but again I urge you to call some girlfriends (or guys call your boys) and plan an outing together. You’ll find yourself refreshed from the experience.
I laughed so much yesterday by the time I got home my face was numb. Between the wine club then meeting Chunk at Tommy T’s for Anjelah Johnson…Good Lawd! That girl is HILARIOUS! She sold out SEVEN shows at Tommy T’s so I’m sure she’ll back. If you haven’t seen her, don’t miss her next time around.
I’m so excited about our Sex and the City shindig. Good Luck winning tickets to the screening, but remember the pre- and post parties are open to the public so you can grab some friends and join us for those and check out the film on your own. Just a thought. Regardless I expect May 30th is going to bring sold out theaters filled with beautiful women dressed to the nines all across the country!
Alright, I started organizing my closet over the weekend and I’m nowhere near finished. Ugh! Can I tell you how much I hate doing stuff like this?! I had to because everytime I get dressed it looks like my closet exploded because I can’t find anything. Anyway, I’m off to make another dent in this project. Adios!
