Spring Forward

Well I tried an experiment this weekend, I set my clock ahead on Friday afternoon instead of Sunday morning to try and ward of that loss of an hour lag on Monday morning and I am happy to report it works! (Well it did for me.) Of course you can only do this if everyone in your household is in agreement and you don’t have a pressing schedule of events. This weekend I was wide open so it worked out perfectly.

Deuce and I went to Sausalito on Saturday. Boy it was a beautiful day! It was fun just walking around and looking in all the shops and galleries. There was an even an art gallery that had a “Dogs Welcome” sign.  It was so beautiful that we walked and I forgot to pay attention to how far we were walking as opposed to where we were parked. The stroll out lovely, the trek back challenging considering my four-legged friend was a bit tired and thirsty at this point, not to mention the sidewalks a bit more crowded so I had a workout with a four-pound weight on my way back.

At this point I figured I’d go fill up with gas while I was out 1. because the prices are just going to keep going up so there’s no point in waiting and 2. I don’t know if I ever mentioned that I have a horrible sense of direction.  Let me explain, if I’m meandering around not trying to find anywhere in particular I can find all kinds of useful places but if I’m looking for something, I’ll get lost everytime. Case in point, I happened upon a gas station, got water for Deuce and I and went the wrong way leaving the gas station. Thought  I was headed back to the city, ended up in Novato.

Sunday, I had a moment that renews my faith in God (Jesus, Yaweh,Buddha, Allah or whatever higher power you believe in.).  I was a bit down attending what I like to call the “Church of the Couch” (watching a service on television) and I started remembering times in my life when things were looking bad but how (what I now believe was God) right then a friend or stranger would appear to help me over those particularly rough patches. I guess I needed something so bad I didn’t know it until it appeared because right after “church” I took the dog for a walk and we went a different way then we usually do. On that walk I ran into a really good friend from out of town that I haven’t talked to in almost a year. She’s in the city on business and was out sightseeing with a co-worker. What are the odds? (Mind you she called me two weeks ago to tell me she was coming this month and I got busy and forgot to call her back.) When I saw her I burst into tears.  It was so good to see a friendly face! I’m not going to pour all my tea today but let me say this, you are never alone as you think if you can muster your faith, help is around. Sometimes you just need to walk into it.
